- Summer 2026 ITEP and The Nature Conservancy-Idaho Internships Host Site Application
Description
We are honored to partner with organizations in Idaho, who will serve as host sites, doing on-the-ground work to protect our human and non-human relatives across Idaho. Each host site is responsible for developing a specific work plan for Idaho climate, renewable energy, water, air or land resilience related projects and may work with the intern on additional tasks. Work plans may include community outreach and engagement, conducting community interviews, engaging in research, working on the implementation of resilience actions, creating transformative art projects, and more.
Please complete this application to be considered for a host site for the ITEP and The Nature Conservancy Internship Program. Organizations may submit multiple applications, please submit a separate application for each project. The ITEP Internship Coordinator and The Nature Conservancy Idaho team will score each application and selected sites will be notified in early December.
Internships must be beyond general secretarial/clerical support but feasible, relative to the intern's qualifications and time requirements, as well as contribute to an ongoing program of the sponsoring organization. Host sites must have an identifiable supervisor/mentor who is on location and committed to the interns' professional development.
Requirements
Host sites will create a work plan focused on climate, renewable energy, water, air, or land resilience projects — and may also collaborate with interns on additional community-based efforts such as:
Community outreach and engagement
Conducting interviews and research
Implementing local resilience actions
Creating transformative art projects
Summer internships run 10 weeks (40 hours per week). Indigenous interns receive a stipend, with housing and travel covered if relocation is needed.
The internship can be in-person, hybrid, or virtual, with a supervisor/mentor that is available daily. The mentor will also need to provide the intern with orientation and guidance to the new area and culture. Interns will generally work 40 hours a week for the duration of the 10-week internship.
Sufficient space, facilities, and resources to support the project (designated work space, computer, phone, Internet access)
Please email kim.shaw@nau.edu with any questions you may have.
Host site applications are due November 21, 2025!
